Dear Raiders and interested parties
This is to advise that entries for Raid Australia 2024 will close on 31 March 2024.
We have included a list of those who have registered so far. At this time there are still some places available, as we have about 30 2CVs and derivatives registered and 3 four-wheel drive support vehicles.
The committee is busy working on various aspects of the raid, including the re-booking of dinners, caravan parks and camp sites and for various reasons there will be some changes to the draft itinerary document. The route and dates will remain the same except that there may be some detail differences in terms of where campsites, caravan parks and meals are located.
The most significant change we have had to make is to move the start. This was to be at the Golden Ponds Resort in Baldivis, WA (an outer suburb of Perth). Despite the raid having booked a function room and bulk camp sites at that location, they have advised us that they can no longer provide the camp sites that we need. So, our local committee members have been busy looking for another start point.
The likely venue for the start will be Brookton, which is about 135 km from Perth and was on the original itinerary. They have sufficient camp sites, a pavilion for the dinner and a local catering group who can provide our dinner. We are just doing the final negotiations now and will keep you posted via this website. The start date will still be Saturday 3 August 2024.
Myself and some other committee members will be at the Cit-in in Devonport, Tasmania from 22 March to 25 March 2024 to answer questions about the raid, as required.
