Raid 2020

Dates

Raid 2020 starts on 1 August and finishes on 28 August.

Route

The proposed route is a west/east crossing of the continent, with some similarities to the first raid, Raid 88.
The proposed starting point is Baldivis in Western Australia, then going to Wave Rock, Kalgoorlie, Laverton and across the Ann Beadell Highway to Coober Pedy.
Then we will travel to William Creek, Marree and up the Birdsville Track to Birdsville.
After that we go to Longreach, and then Gayndah.

The final route will not be finalised until August 2019.

Find the current draft itinerary here.

Registration

Bookings and registration are expected to open in late September.

Further to my previous post about postponing the Raid again, the Committee has considered this and concluded that postponing to August 2022 is the best option, for all of the reasons previously mentioned.
A likely start date is 1/8/22.
Those who have registered already will be notified by email and given the option of taking a refund , if the new dates don't suit, or staying in for the postponed Raid.
There will be more info of the website Raidaustralia.com.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause, but feel it was the only decision we could make under the current circumstances.
Cheers Chris

Unfortunately despite replacing Molly’s bearing, the gearbox is now squealing like a mad banshee but only in 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th, and probably reverse....!
I got about 100 trouble free kilometres. Checked the snail again and all okay. Changed the oil and some metal bits: Million guesses, but it will have to be parked up waiting Peter Fosselius next trip.

Would anyone be interested in a late 70s Arcadienne van? Perfect raid beasty! Has been off the road for 20 years in a shed...comes with a load of spares including engine, gearbox and chassis...could be very tidy with not so much work...not mine but putting it out for an elderly citroen enthusiast who needs it gone soon...price range around $14k....PM me if interested...it's in Perth! ...
